Hello fellow 101ers,
We've been working with the Winter Solstice chart for Masterton,
New
Zealand for the past few posts that I've done. So I thought
we'd
continue along that vein. So far we've covered how to calculate
a
midpoint, how to use the 360 degree dial and the 90 degree dial
and
how to progress a chart. This follows the sequence which Maria
Kay
Sims uses in "Dial Detective" . The next section covers definitons
of the TNPs used in Uranian astrology. Steve has a nice section
on
his web site with definitions. This is a quick way to that
section
of his web site. You might want to read it and print it out
if you
don't have a copy of this information already.

The next topic that is covered in "Dial Detective" is midpoint trees.
We'll do a simple midpoint tree using the progressed
Winter Solstice
chart. I have sent this chart
as a jpeg file previously. If you wish to
draw it on your own, which is recommended, the information is 6/22/98,
2:03 AM -12, Masterton, NZ 40S57, 175E40.
To work with the progressed, you need to put
the information from the
chart on the dial's inner ring, with the Solstice
on another dial (paper
copy) underneath it. Both
should be visible but the upper dial needs to
be movable. Fabric snaps work great
for this and they're inexpensive. Just
put the snap through the middle of the dials. Then turn the
inner (top)
dial (progressed) so the 00 Cardinal sun is at 23 Cardinal 50 on
the outer
dial . Lay the dial pointer over the top of this so that the
Aries point
is at 23 Cardinal 50 also. Then you
look at what is equidistant on either
side. You will construct a tree
something like the one below. I think I
may have missed some points and my orb
around natal Uranus is too large to
really consider it but you'll get the general idea.
Event (MC) is before the world (pAr) and involves physical events(pSu)
Wounds(Ch) are unexpected (Ur) by others (pAsc) when a great (pAp)
energy
(pVu) is released (Ze). Deep (Ad) is the Event (pMC) the day
(Su) is
connected to world events (Ar) through hidden force (pPl)
I'll let you put in some key words for the rest of the tree.
You might also want to look at the midpoint for Uranus/Admetus it's
activated by the day's events. Since it was an undersea earthquake
that set off a tidal wave. The midpoint is at 00Aries48.
(which
would make it the midpoint of the Solstice Sun and of the progressed
Pluto)
